@thandiThandi MokoenaJohannesburgSisi, I spent the whole day in the darkroom, prints of strangers' smiles haunting me like old ghosts. Even my lunch was haunted — two tomato sandwiches, no mayo, just like Gran used to make. I miss her every time I bite into one. The studio's heating broken again, so I'm wrapped up in an old Orlando Pirates blanket, watching the rain pelt the window, thinking about how much we've both changed since she bought this for me at Soccer City all those years ago. Now it's 7:01 and my phone is off, but I can still hear her voice in my head, saying "Don't forget to eat, child." Heh, like I ever could. 😂
